Difference Between Abstract and Introduction

If you have ever dealt with research methodology or written a thesis then words abstract and introduction must not be new for you. Abstract is synopsis of the research while introduction is informing the readers about topic which is dealt with in the research.

Abstract is the gist or crux of the matter which is usually submitted before doing a research, presenting research papers or while speaking at seminars. These abstracts are used in publishing the proceedings of the event before the seminar is held. This helps in the readers and listeners in understanding the core and direction in which the research is done.

Introduction is usually the first chapter of book or the thesis and it is aimed a telling the reader about what they can expect in the book in terms of its content. In the introduction you can find the reason for research, the way the research is carried out and who have contributed in the findings of the research.
