Difference Between Acetaminophen And Ibuprofen
In times of illness, such as having a fever or body aches, usually most people take medications that they have. These medicines mostly come in the form of acetaminophen or ibuprofen. In addition, usually the people who take these drugs consider them to act similarly and classify them as one. Is there any difference between the two?
Both acetaminophen and ibuprofen are considered as anti-inflammatory drugs, or anti-inflammatory drugs. While they both have the ability to exempt a person from feelings of mild to moderate pain, they can not help those with severe pain.
Prostaglandins are the pain causing fatty acids and are responsible for triggering the pain receptors. A person feels the pain when impulses are transmitted to the brain.
Ibuprofen is something more powerful, both reduce inflammation and pain. Acetaminophen, however, can give some relief or pain reduction, but can not reduce the swelling.
Both are directed towards hypothalamus that controls the body temperature. The hypothalamus is the most important body part that affects the thermo-regulation, and any discovered problems in the body would trigger the hypothalamus which then sends a hormone that increases metabolism and thus increases the temperature.

Recent studies have shown that ibuprofen works as a better antipyretic than acetaminophen. This means that it can work faster and better to reduce the temperature in case of fever. Acetaminophen can reduce fever, but at a slower pace.
However, acetaminophen does not cause many gastrointestinal problems, such as ibuprofen. This means basically that acetaminophen can be consumed without food because it is milder than other drugs. On the other hand, it is recommended that ibuprofen should be taken after meals or with food, because it causes more problems with digestion and leads to irritating the stomach lining.
Knowing the difference between acetaminophen and ibuprofen can help people understand and learn more about how each affects the body.
Summary:
1 ibuprofen is a bit more powerful and long lasting and reduces both pain and inflammation by acting on prostaglandin, but acetaminophen can relieve pain but do not reduce swelling and inflammation.
2. ibuprofen is a better antipyretic, which is faster when the temperature drops in the heat.
3 Acetaminophen is gentler on the stomach lining and can be consumed with empty stomach
