Difference Between UN and NATO

UN /United Nations Organizations (UNO) is an international organization whose purpose is to establish world peace, maintain  international law, human rights, security,  social progress. It originated in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations. UN tries to stop wars between countries and tries to solve the problem by preparing a platform where everything will be solved by talks. The headquarters of UN is in New York. There are 192 members in the UN and English, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, French and Spanish are the languages that are accepted in UN. The UN works on the following bodies- the General Assembly, the Security Council, the UN Secretariat under UN Secretary General, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the Economic and Social Council. There is another main body- the Trusteeship Council, however it is not fully operational. The Human Rights Council is one of the important aspects of works of the UN. There are quite a huge number of humanitarian programmes and funds that the UN has started some of which are UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, WFP etc. There are a lot of special agencies like WHO, UNESCO, IMF, ILO, ITU, UNIDO, FAO and World Bank group which are also closely associated with the UN. The UN and its agencies are covered under the respective laws of the countries in which they operate to ensure the safety of the UN policies as far as the host and member countries/states are concerned.

However NATO / North Atlantic Treaty Organization can be referred to as an intergovernmental military alliance which originated due to the North Atlantic Treaty on 4 April 1949. The Headquarters of NATO are in Brussels, Belgium and about 28 states are members of the NATO. The languages that are accepted by NATO are English and French.

The NATO council is all about the reports that the Committee submits on Defense and Security Committee, the Civil Dimension of Security, Political Committee and Science and Technology Committee and Economics and Security Committee. Central Europe Pipeline System and NATO Pipeline System are some of the agencies that are under Nato.
