Difference Between CD Duplication and Replication

The act of duplicating or copying CDs and CD replication appear to be the same processes, this confuses many among the two. The purpose for both is producing copies of CDS but they differ from each other in lot of aspects. If you want to create and distribute free copies of any CD, You can try any of the two processes. However, it would be good to take a look at the two processes so that you can choose one of the processes according to the results you desire and your budget.

What is Duplication of CD?

You must have burned the CD before using a CD burner. There are numerous software to extract data from an original CD and write them on a blank CD. To create limited number of copies, the act of duplicating a CD at home is easy and fast. What is CD Replication?

On the other hand, replication of CD is a completely different process where a glass master of the main CD is created. This glass master stamps data on blank CDs. CDs are printed in white and painted with the UV rays for better protection. Stampers create exact clones of the original CD and printing labels makes them seem authentic copies. CD replication is a much more professional to receive copies of your CD created and they sound better too.

While CD replication is a bit expensive, the price drops as the number of copies required increases. So if the number of copies required is in the thousands, you can really save huge sums and receive copies of highly professional standards through CD replication. It is best to have CD duplication if the requirement is for less than 1000 copies. Another thing that must be taken into account is that if you want copies of CD on immediate basis then act of duplicating a CD is helpful because CD replication can take at least a week to make the copies while duplicate copies can be made in just 2-3 days.
