Difference Between East and West

It is usually said that “East is east and West is west and never the twain shall meet”. There are vast divergences between both the hemispheres. These differences are reflected through their distinct cultures, attires, religion, philosophy, sports, arts and primarily languages.

As far as their religions and cultures are concerned, the west is youthful where as the east is ancient. The east is considered meditative while the west is emotional. There are vast variations in their religious thinking too. The West is active in the sense that all its activity is turned externally, while the religious activity of the east on the contrary is turned towards the spirit. It is far more spiritual than the west.

The religions of the Far East comprise of Confucianism, Shinto and Taoism while the Indian religions constitute Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism. The religions in the Middle East are Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Zoroastrianism. The eastern medicine method or the oriental structure of medicine is constituted by the systems of Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, conventional Tibetan medicine and conservative Korean medicine. The religions in the Western hemisphere ae religions entirely founded on Abrahamic monotheism and they originate mostly from the Middle Eastern surroundings.

There are myriad languages in the East and the Far East and the Middle East which comprise of Japanese, Chinese, Maloyo Polenesian languages, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese. However, Indian languages constitute Sanskrit, Hindi, other Indian dialects and Dravidian languages. The languages spoken in the West are made up of English, German, Celtic, Italian, Greek and the other European languages. Arabic and Russian are also considered western languages.

When it comes to architecture and arts, both the east and the west differ dramatically. The Renaissance art in Europe is well-known to have created an everlasting impression in the west there is no doubt that even today innumerable museums in the western countries have become homes of exquisite art pieces of the Renaissance period. In the east, oriental art for the most part comprises of a wide range of musical and dance forms. Numerous dance forms can also be witnessed in the eastern countries like Japan, Malaysia and Thailand. India is place of origin to a variety of dance and music practice practices. It can therefore be can see that the east and the west are weighed down with immense number of diversities between them.
