Difference Between I Love You and Love You

I love you and love you are expressions that convey an emotional attachment to the person, or in some cases the pets, things, or food, in the subject. There is a subtle difference between them and yet we will discuss this difference.

I love you

I love you is commonly said to the person you love as a way to reaffirm their emotional weight to your being. These words are said to your significant other, family, parents, and sometimes even friends. Most of the times, I love you is said during an optimistic start of a relationship with another. Sometimes it is also used to express affection towards someone or something, be it your parents, siblings and even pets.

Love you

Love you more than an informal and relaxed way of saying ‘I love you’, yet it is commonly used as a way of expressing gratitude and even affection among friends without conveying a romantic connotation. Like saying to your girlfriends ‘love you’ after you’ve been abated, or something like that. People should use caution in the use of this term, however, as it can lead someone who might have feelings for the concerned person into error while saying it.

The difference between I love you and love you

As mentioned earlier, ‘I love you’ and ‘You like’ essentially means the same thing. Yet ‘I love you’ is usually reserved for your significant other and your parents, while ‘Love you’ are commonly used to friends and siblings and pets. ‘Love you’ can also be told your significant other or your parents yet it is usually during times when the atmosphere is clear. Yet, both expressions can cause confusion between two people especially if you have feelings for each other. That’s why ‘I love you and’ love you’ should not be used lightly and meaninglessly.

There is nothing quite like hearing the words ‘I love you’ from someone, yet you have to read between the lines to know if there is a romantic intention behind the words or not.
