Difference Between Indian Cities Varanasi and Haridwar

Haridwar and Varanasi are two cities in the country of India that one must visit if one is visiting India. Both of these cities are auspicious for Indians and are located on the banks of holy Ganges. Haridwar is located about 200 kms north east of New Delhi and Varanasi is located to the southeast at 600 kms from New Delhi.

Haridwar as well as Varanasi are religious cities. It is believed that Haridwar was been visited by Vishnu-The Hindu deity, and Varanasi is the city supposed to be established by the Hindu God Shiva. The city of Haridwar is visited for its beautiful bank of Ganges river where you can take holy dip, the water here is clean and clear like crystal because the river Ganga originates from a placed very close to haridwar. Varanasi is one of the most holy and ancient cities of the world and a tourist must visit to see his past.

There are many holy cities of in India, but Haridwar as a special position because ‘Kumbh’, a religious festival that is conducted after every 12 years, is held here. It is believed that a holy dip in the river Ganges during Kumbh lets go of all your sins. In spite of the fact that Kumbh is not conducted in the city of in Varanasi, it is still visited by a lot of people in India and considered sacred. It is said that if you die in Varanasi then you attain bliss and are absolved from the cycle of birth and death.

Haridwar and Varanasi are both religious and pious cities and are visited for getting blessings from the Lord. Varanasi is considered as doorway to heaven for the Hindus. The city is housed by  the old Hindus wanting to die in the city of Lord Shiva and be freed from the cycle of rebirth.
