Difference Between Johnnie Walker Red Label and Black Label

Johnnie Walker is popular brand of whiskey and has enjoyed a place of pride for centuries. Both Red Label and Black Label from the house of Johnnie Walker are most popular whiskies across the globe. They are the low to medium end products. Johnnie Walker has five blends- Red, Black, Green, Gold and Blue labels. Previously it had white label also which no longer exists. Each of its five blends is unique in its flavor and experience. Let see the difference between the two.

Red Label

Red label comes at the lower end of Johnnie Walker’s Scotch whisky list. It is the cheapest of the five blends of the whiskies of Johnnie Walker family. Yet it is extremely exceptional. It boasts of high-spirited flavor. Red label is branded as “Full of Character” for its flexibility. It does not lose its original characteristic when it is mixed with others. It is claimed that its flavor is not comparable with anything else. It is a fine drink on its own.

Red label is prepared by blending the light whiskies from Scotland’s east coast and dark swampy whiskies from west coast. These whiskies create a depth of unique flavor in it. Nearly 35 grain and malt whiskies are blended in it. Its maturity age is said to be 8 years.

When taken, Red label freshen up the palate and gives intense spicy flavors.  Red label creates a sensation in mouth like that of sweet chili. It is served in a variety of ways across the globe. It is an everyday scotch and can be a perfect companion at picnics and parties. It is liked at pubs and clubs because of its taste and freshness.

Black Label

Black label is given the trademark ‘Hidden Depths’ by the Johnnie Walker. It was introduced in 1870. It still has the authenticity of its creator and is sold widely in the world. It is a rich and smooth blend of About 40 very best Scotch whiskies ranging from the strong west coast malts and delicate east coast whiskies are blended to prepare it. It is maturity age is 12 years.

It gives deep taste. The first sip itself makes one curious to find out more. It is rich and smooth with smoky malt and a fruity flavor. It gives tinge of swampy odor with a finish of sweet vanilla and raisin flavor. The whiskey can be consumed raw, with water, soda and ginger ale.

Red label Vs Black Label

Black Label is matured longer than Red Label. Red label is malty and lighter whereas Black label gives deep flavor and smokier.  It is silky smooth.  Black Label is more expensive than Red label. Black label can be consumed raw or mixed
