Difference Between Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy

Sounds familiar, right? The fact is that there is a lot of difference between the two. Occupational therapy and physical therapy do share many common areas. But they are different in many aspects.

Physiotherapy basically maintains the physical properties of the human body. Occupational therapy is a little different. It is the physical aspect, but only insofar as they affect your ability to do something related to employment or welfare.

Physiotherapist will have no concerns with the spiritual and emotional well-being of patient while occupational therapist works with trauma hit or mentally ill patients as well. They work on issues such as depression, stress and lack of motivation. Everything designed by them is to make your job better.

An occupational therapist is not concerned with the injury of a person. Instead, he emphasizes that one can live the best life, despite his injuries. He is not a person who commonly prescribes drugs.

Physical therapy, however, focuses on treating injuries and also to prevent further injuries as well. Physiotherapist is a man with far-reaching understanding of both anatomy and muscle functionality. He has no knowledge about the mental pains.

Both of them have their own importance. While one is important for a person to recover from injury and dysfunction of muscles and limbs, the other is important for the general welfare of person
