Difference Between Policy and Protocol
The policy and protocol are two words that are often confused as one and the same as far as their senses are involved. Strictly speaking there are some differences between the two in terms of their use.
A policy is usually a set of rules that is designed to achieve certain objectives from the growth of an organization or a company or educational institution. Policies differ in different organizations. A hospital may have a policy different from that employed by an educational institution. Similarly the policy of an educational institution will differ from that of a company and so on.
It is important to know that the policy helps in decision making. In fact it helps in decision-making. Policies grow over time. They are not made suddenly. They grow with the organization. A protocol defines a set of procedures to be followed or accomplishing a given task. There is a methodology to follow when it comes to conducting a meeting or a particular task concerned with the growth of a company or corporation. We call this kind of procedure which is well defined, as the protocol.
It is important to know that sticking to the protocol associated with the completion of a task is very important to achieve a desired solution. Deviation from a protocol can lead to misunderstanding or miscommunication. The protocol consists in the action of something in a particular way based on some previous experience. The protocol is considered an effective way too based on past experience driven by someone by following the procedures laid. These are the differences between protocol and policy. They are actually different words.
