Difference Between Sikhism and Hinduism

Sikhism and Hinduism are two different religions that do have some differences between them when it comes to their concepts, beliefs and other basic origin. Hinduism has no founder and it is known as Sanatana Dharma. Hinduism is amalgamation of universality of all religions. He believes in equality of all creatures as well.

Sikhism on the other hand, is a monotheistic religion founded in the 15th century in India Punjab region. Religious doctrines of Sikhism are based on the teachings of the famous Guru Nanak Dev and ten of his disciples. In fact, we can say that Sikhism is the fifth most widely followed religion in the world.

Hinduism believes in the classification of dharmas people as per there work. The four classifications or varnas are the Brahmanas, the Kshatriyas, the Vaisyas and the Shudras. Each of these classes is given specific duties and responsibilities and these are called dharmas. A Brahmin is supposed to learn the Vedas and it is supposed to teach othersthe same. A Kshatriya is given the duty to protect the kingdom and is considered the king. A vaisya must refrain in the business including agriculture or other industry. A Shudra must serve the people of the other three classes and is expected to learn fine arts.

Sikhism believes in one God and his core beliefs are faith and justice in One God. The name of God should be meditated to attain salvation as well as liberation in life. The Guru Granth sahib is the Holy Scripture of the Sikhs. Furthermore, the Vedas are the sacred Hindu scriptures . In Hinduism it is believed that there are four stages of life, namely, the Brahmacharya, the Grihastya, the Vanaprastha and the Sanyasa. These are the differences between the two major religions in the world, namely, Hinduism and Sikhism.
