Difference Between Sentence and Clause

Sentence and Clause are entirely different from each other because sentence is complete in itself in terms of making sense and expressing a thought while clause is incomplete and cannot express the complete meaning.

Sentences have a subject, an object and verb for making complete sense. There are many types of sentences like exclamatory, interrogative and affirmative sentences.

For example, He goes to the church daily. He lives in a village. These are complete sentences and have an object, subject and a verb.

Clause is part of a sentence and two clauses can make a complete sentence in many cases. For example, she was angry but she kept quiet. Here she was angry and she kept quiet are two clauses which are making one complete sentence. Clause has subject and predicate. It does not have object while sentence has an object.
