The difference between Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Home Premium

The most recent operating system of Windows is the Windows 7. There are two selections on this system in order for those budget conscious costumers to fit in. These are namely the Home Basic and the Home Premium.

Upon reading these two terms, we can immediately tell which is best. Premium being superior really has more capabilities compared to the Home Basic but is of course more expensive. But then again, this is not just the case, there are more to know.

Windows 7 Home Basic

The home basic is only available to those countries that have newly sprouted markets wherein the budget is really a concern. Developed countries like the United States of America, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and Germany have restrictions on the Home Basic which means, if you live in the said countries, you cannot access the Windows 7 Home Basic. In addition to that, there are certain limitations of that of the Home Basic, one of these is its support for Aero wherein it is only partial compared to the Home Premium where it gives its support completely. Aero is the well-known glasslike user interface that was first introduced by Windows Vista. Also, the Home Basic does not cover the Windows Media Center. Although you can experience what the Media Center offers by installing different software such as the Windows Media player or any other player and the photo viewer as well.

Windows 7 Home Premium

In terms of availability, the Home Premium is available in all countries. It would just depend on the user’s budget of course. Now, talking more about the Windows Media Center, it really showcases the user’s needs with regards to Entertainment. It enables you to watch Television online and even record it if you please, just like a DVR. The Media Center accommodates its users to browsing of Photo Albums, watching movies, and even listening to music.

Brief Summary:

-The Windows Home Basic is available only on certain countries unlike the Home Premium that is available in all countries.

-Obviously, the Home Basic costs less compared to the Home Premium.

-Home Basic only supports Aero partially while the Home Premium supports it completely.

-Creating and joining a home network cannot happen on the Home Basic but with the Home Premium it would just be simply a choice.

-You would need to install different types of software to complete your needs regarding entertainment on the Home Basic while with the Home Premium, you would not worry about that because includes the Windows Media Center in the package.

The difference between Wiki and Wikipedia

Gathering or storing of information about certain things is done in the internet by millions in a daily basis. Whenever we look up for a landmark or something that involves history, most of us refer to Wikipedia. But what we don’t know is that, Wikipedia is not unique, as a matter of fact, it is just one of the systems out there that do the same, although it is the most popular.

Wiki

When you say Wiki, you are more pertaining to the system wherein the users or volunteers can add up or modify any of the words posted in a certain entry. In this way, important information about a certain celebrity, landmark, etc. can be recorded as quickly as possible due to the large number of volunteers all over the world. The disadvantage however is that, the chances of vandalism are very high, leading to misinformation hosted. The volunteers must act quickly whenever vandalism happens. All they have to do is to activate the versioning system which enables it to reverse whatever vandals made on that certain topic. That’s why regular check-up of the page is highly recommended. Some wikis also make the administrator give out control on how people can edit those posted entries, such as having only the members the power to edit, etc.

Wikipedia

Wikipedia is the most popular Wiki to date. The name is driven from a combination of two words namely, Wiki and Encyclopedia. It also provides about any information you would need. Compared to most wikis, Wikipedia has a more open policy wherein anyone can edit information about it. But the great number of people who maintains or protects a certain page corrects any possible vandals seen.

Brief Summary:

-Wiki is a type of website while Wikipedia is also a website but follows the format of that of Wiki.

-The most popular Wiki in the whole world is Wikipedia.

-Information stored on Wikipedia can be edited by anyone unlike some Wikis wherein the administrator sets controls on the people who can edit it.

The difference between WordPress and Blogspot

One trend that people are used to nowadays is Blogging. Some people just do it for fun, while some take it seriously. Now, WordPress and Blogspot both enable you to blog but there are a few differences that make them a lot different from one another.

WordPress

WordPress is a free stand-alone application that can be installed on basically any server. It has been built and maintained by a group of volunteers worldwide. Although it is free, there are some features that can only be accessed when you subscribe for a premium account meaning, you’ll need to pay for it to be functional. With regards to Javascript, it is not permitted in WordPress blogs. With blogging, you can share or spread what you might propose through a large audience which is basically, the world. Anyone can view your WordPress blogs as long as they have access to the internet. One good thing about WordPress is that, your posts are protected with passwords enable you to limit those who can view or make changes to your posts.

Blogspot

Unlike WordPress, Blogspot cannot be installed on any server for it is owned by a company called Google, meaning you have to run it through their servers. But what’s great about it is that, it is totally free! Google just posts ads into your blog making it fair enough. Google adsense is also offered wherein you can earn through blogging. This is when, your viewers click on an ad which is posted on your blog and with that, you earn cash. Third party scripts can be included in Blogspot but they do not provide it, making it more interactive. Same as to WordPress, a large audience is there to view your blogs but with Blogspot, your viewers are limited because they can only view it if they have an account. Posts however are not protected with passwords.

Brief Summary:

-WordPress can be installed on any server while, Blogspot which is owned by google runs on their own servers.

-Blogspot is totally free compared to WordPress wherein you need to pay to use all the features of a premium user.

-Both gives you the chance to show your blogs on a large audience but in Blogspot, the viewers of your blogs need to have an account as well while, in WordPress, everyone can view it.

Difference between LG Spectrum and Droid Bionic

The LG Spectrum seems to be pretty familiar don’t you think? It most likely looks that of the LG Nitro HD. But there are some changes done of course with the new smartphone, may it be design or some specs. So, what phone would we compare with? Right, the Droid Bionic would be a fair fight! Now, let’s get started!

Design and Performance

Similar to its brother, the Nitro HD, you’ll have your eyes hooked up to the beautiful 4.5” screen. The design makes it differ because the LG Spectrum is of more flat on the top and bottom, making it more classic to look. Along the bottom part of the phone, you’ll see a row of controls which are the Menu, Home, and Back. On the left side, you’ll find the volume rockers which are two of the real buttons of the smartphone. It has some great specs, having a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. It has a 1,830 mAh battery but cannot be removed, or is built-in. With regards to its storage, it really is not good because it only offers a 4GB Internal storage although it comes with a 16GB microSD slot.

Motorola’s first smartphone with a dual-core processor was the Droid Bionic. Now, two new phones from the company are powered by the same processor as well, these are the Droid Razr and the Droid Razr Maxx. Regarding the screen, the Droid is a bit smaller compared to the LG Spectrum for it has a 4.3’’ display. It runs on an Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread but the company has said to have promised an update to the latest 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich). At 159g, its weights just right on your palms however, the battery is only 1735 mAh which is slightly beaten by the Spectrum. Well, Droid regains the pace again with regards storage, this smartphone is much better than the LG Spectrum having 16GB of onboard storage while giving you an option to add another 16GB at its microSD slot.

Camera

The LG Spectrum comes with an 8-megalpixel camera on its rear and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. You can shoot your perfect moments with this spectacular $199 smartphone. The Droid Bionic has an 8-megapixel camera on its rear side as well. With this phone, you can shoot 1080p HD recordings and view your images at 960X540 resolution.

Difference between MP3 and FLAC

As we know, there are different types of format nowadays to play our favourite songs. The most popular one is MP3. Although FLAC is seldom used and less likely known, we will tackle the differences between the two. But basically, the main difference is simply how they compress the audio into their specific file.

MP3

MP3 is a format which they call “lossy” which means you lose some information. But we would now wonder and think of the loss you would have with this type of audio format. Now, what it does is that, those materials or so called information that people won’t hear is not included in the file. So, if you’re more in to saving disk space or in other words seeking for smaller file size, it would be best to choose the MP3 format. This is the reason why it is so popular in the market. Also, this format was the choice of the first SSD music players which they soon called MP3 Players. With the newer formats like MP4, and many more, still the MP3 format can still be played or is compatible with most of our beloved gadgets.

FLAC

On the other hand, the format FLAC is termed as “lossless”, the opposite of what an MP3 format is. Although it is not the exact opposite because they still are similar in a sense that they are a file for audio but, the FLAC format is where all information of the audio file is stored, whether you can hear it or not. This is good at some point but it gives the file size some weight.

Brief Summary:

-MP3’s compress the audio file size to a mere 20% than the original without disrupting anything audible, while FLAC saves all the information of the file.
-The more widely used format is that of the MP3 because of the fact that you can play this type of files on almost any music ready device present today. The FLAC format on the other hand has little compatibility of what we have. You would be of need to buy a specific type of software for your computer or hardware to play it which would be a bit costly and impractical.

Difference between Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Sony Xperia S

If you’d take a look on Samsung’s Galaxy Note, it’s own counterpart the Galaxy Nexus is not far in terms of size. But beyond that, there are a lot of amazing features this smartphone has to offer. Compared to the Sony Xperia S which is also a superb smartphone, you’ll really have your brains mixed up, for its truly difficult to choose from the two.

Design and Performance

Some people say bigger is better, some also rather chooses to go with the normal sized phones but with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, we’re talking big. Close to the Galaxy Note, this gadget displays a 4.7”-screen for better wide viewing. Stunning images and HD movies can be much more appreciated upon viewing it through this. But what really takes this one far away from the Note is its operating system. It is powered by an Android 4.0 1.2GHz dual-processor making it truly fast! Jumping from app to app is just a split second away.

The Sony Xperia S is more smaller with a 4.3”-HD screen, which is just the appropriate size for most people. This is the first Android powered smartphone since their recent split with Erickson. It really is designed giving it it’s unique distinctive features such as the highly noticeable transparent bar below the phone that give a vibrant white glow. Inside of it actually holds the smartphone’s antenna strip! Let’s now get to the processor. The Sony Xperia S is powered by an Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread under the Timescape skin. Clearly, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus beats the Xperia S fair and square in terms of speed, hats off. Sony must upgrade to the latest ICS and give Xperia S what it truly needs.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has a 5-megapixel rear camera with the Super AMOLED Plus Technology giving you the power to take great quality images and shoot 720p resolution videos.
On the other hand, when it comes to cameras, the Galaxy Nexus is push down to the ground for the Sony Xperia S has its 12.1-megapixel camera in the rear enabling you to shoot marvelous stunning images and shoot 1080p resolution videos as well. They have also included one nifty feature wherein you can also simulate or shoot videos through 3D!

If you seek size, then you better look into these two. Both are big smartphones but we will tackle each ones differences for you to easily decide on which one you should get.

Design and Performance

First of all, both are literally smartphones but the Samsung Galaxy Note has it’s unique features. It is truly fascinating that you get not just a phone but a tablet as well. The Galaxy Note has a 5.3”-screen which is so close to a tablet if you notice. It is not just your typical smartphone that you put in your pockets or either put near your ears when answering a call. Most users of this gadget have Bluetooth headsets when they answer calls. It is powered on an Android 2.3 GingerBread unlike the newest version which is 4.0 called the ICS or Ice-Cream Sandwich. Although its size is so distinctive, you may be surprised because of its light-weight. Not like the tablet wherein you need to use both hands, but even you can carry it with one hand, it is still best to use it with its custom stylus called the S-Pen with your other hand. The Samsung Galaxy Note is indeed fast thanks to the dual core 1.4GHz processor it runs with. Also, it has onboard memory which can either be 16GB or 32GB and a microSD slot wherein you can add another 32GB or memory making it simply awesome!

Now with the HTC One X, it is not far from the Samsung Galaxy Note for it also has a wide screen of 4.7”. Not bad right? Compared to the Note, this one can fit just right in your large pocket. Well, if you want a handy HTC smartphone then you might rather go for the HTC One S. HTC has also been changing some stuff, they’re now more on some sleeker designs. Unlike the Note, there is no microSD slot available on HTC One X although it has a 32GB onboard memory, people would still prefer having large storage capacities like that of the Note and iPhone 4S which doubles it since playing HD Movies and playing games as well are superb to do with this phone.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Note has an 8-megapixel camera in its back incorporated with a LED Flash and can zoom in 4x. It can also shoot full HD videos up to 1080p/30 fps and at its front is a 2-megapixel camera for video calling. The HTC One X declares a draw with the back camera. Whats disappointing is that the front camera is only 1.3-megapixels.

Difference between HTC One X and Sony Xperia S

The HTC One X is starting to get out of the box. It might be a repeat such as the success of Desire, for it has an awesome processor (which would be discussed later), and many more. But that won’t be easy for HTC, because Sony is in their way. The Sony Xperia S is the first Android Smartphone from Sony since they’ve parted ways with Erickson. They are really showcasing what they have for us because of its plenty features.

Design and Performance

Truly HTC is shifting into more sleeker designs. It has a 4.7” screen with a 720p HD display that’s only 8.9mm thick. But if you are seeking a smartphone from HTC which fits your hands right, I recommend you go for the HTC One S, because this phone is a bit spacious. Another of it’s many features is that, it has an expected volume rocker switch located on the right side, and a microUSB slot on the opposite side of it. 32GB of storage is given as well.

Now with the design of the Sony Xperia S, they have chosen to go with a curved back instead of a flat one which makes it more pleasurable for our hands as we navigate on it. On its left is its microUSB port which is also the charger and on its right, the micro HDMI port camera and volume button are located. With regards to its design, the Sony Xperia S is truly slim, as a matter of fact, if you put it in your pocket, you won’t stop on feeling your pocket if it’s still there. It is also not advised to put it on pockets that are shallow because of its tall design. It could easily fall out or get stolen. It has a polycarbonate body which makes it solid but nevertheless, comfortable as well. It runs on an Android 2.3.7 GingerBread with five home screens to display your favorite widgets and shortcuts. But unlike the HTC One X that features a 4.7” screen, it has only a 4.3” one. Still isn’t such of a disadvantage because not all buyers want big ones.

Camera

The HTC One X’s rear side is built with an 8-megapixel camera with a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. With regards to cameras, it is clear that Sony beats HTC this time for the Sony Xperia S has a 12.1-megapixel camera at the back and a 2-megapixel camera on the front.

Both smartphone have their PROS and CONS. It really is up to you, the buyer, to decide.

Difference between Sony Experia S and Samsung Galaxy S2

Sony Experia S

Things have changed now since the Sony and Ericsson tandem has finally come to an end. Everyone in to smartphones and techies in this vast world that we live in have been waiting for Sony to show off what it really has in store for us. Now, this time, they’ve launched their most powerful gadget to date! Their first android smartphone sealed with a piano black glass, matched with a polycarbonate black-matte body, and they’ve sizzled things up with a 4.3’’ HD touch screen!

Design and Performance

Instead of having the old fashioned flat back, they’ve made it a bit curvy, making it a lot more pleasing to the hands. One of the trademarks of this phone is the translucent strip below the display that portrays a beautiful white glow.

The charging port is a microUSB situated on its left side. On the top right, you’ll see buttons that are made of brushed metal, this is the sleep/wake button which is not likely to fade compared the other rivals.

It is built with an Android 2.3.7 GingerBread. The home screen also comes with a nifty feature called as the Overview. With the Overview, you can easily view all your shortcuts and widgets from all the five home screens this smartphone has, hence, gives you swift navigation.

With regards to battery life, this baby eats up battery fast! Most probably, before the day will end, the battery will get depleted already but with maximum usage of course. So, it is highly recommended to bring your charger with you if you plan to go away from home for 2 days or more.

Camera

Wouldn’t it be lovely to have an HD camera whenever you need it? Yes, brace yourselves because this smartphone comes with a 12.1 megapixel camera so you can shoot 1080p videos and view your images as clear as a fancy camera offers. They’ve also added a great feature wherein you can record through simulated 3D. Simulated in a sense that, real 3D requires two lenses while this smartphone only has one, still nevertheless extraordinarily superb!

The down side of this smartphone is that, it’s front camera is only 1.3-megapixels which certainly disappoints most of it’s users.

Samsung Galaxy S2

This is the newer version of the Samsung Galaxy S which was also a hit for all those techs. They have now added some great specs and features that would make you want this smartphone. It is also cheaper than its rivals, so that’s another thing to ponder on.

Design and Performance

Some people want huge phones, some want smaller ones, but I guess everyone would want a lighter one. Yes, this smartphone is light-weight, just a mere 116g including its battery! It features a 4.3’’ display but is very slim.

It’s super AMOLED Plus touchscreen gives you the power to take 800X480 resolutions, which is also good to watch HD movies and games for its bright screen and many vibrant colours. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with a 16-GB built-in storage.

Camera

Unlike that of Sony, the camera of this smartphone is only 8-megapixels, but it comes with auto-focus and LED flash that takes 3264X2448 photos and shoots 1080p videos at 30fps making it impressive as well. Now, this phone wins a bit with regards to the front camera because it has a 2-megapixel camera unlike its rival which is only 1.3-megapixels.

Difference Between Facebook And Twitter

Facebook

Facebook is a social networking site founded in 2004 by students of the Harvard University. It derives its name from directory of American schools. It allows registered users to connect with acquaintances, friends, relatives and strangers, sharing with them personal information such as interests, hobbies and sensitive data. Much of the strength of the wheel on Facebook is the sharing content. You can share photos, links, videos easily. You can call your friends with their tags. Facebook is experiencing tremendous growth (600 000 000 active users in January 2011) and is still adding. Its mobile version in particular is proving very successful due to dedicated applications.

The monetization of the service is based on targeted because users on Facebook share huge amount of information. There are two obscurities of Facebook. The first is overvaluation of the title that could lead to a new financial bubble (in May 2011 was quoted $ 100 billion) and second is the management of Privacy Policy users.

Twitter

Twitter was born in 2006 and can be understood as the natural evolution of SMS messages carried on the Internet. Twitter, which takes its name from the verb ‘to tweet’ which means chirping. It is a service of Micro-blogging in real time, or micro communications of a user to the web. Messages cannot exceed 140 characters. The messages are called tweets. You can also share information as hyperlinks, locations (geo) and photos. Although widely used, especially in Anglo-Saxon world, Twitter does not currently have a real method of monetization and this is considered a possible financial bubble given that its assessment in early 2011 was about 7 billion dollars.

Both Facebook and Twiter interface with other social networking sites and with each other to create a single communication flow. Twitter also is considered by many a communication channel busier compared to most popular Facebook. Despite this, both services suffer from continuous waves of spam.
