The difference between Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Home Premium

The most recent operating system of Windows is the Windows 7. There are two selections on this system in order for those budget conscious costumers to fit in. These are namely the Home Basic and the Home Premium.

Upon reading these two terms, we can immediately tell which is best. Premium being superior really has more capabilities compared to the Home Basic but is of course more expensive. But then again, this is not just the case, there are more to know.

Windows 7 Home Basic

The home basic is only available to those countries that have newly sprouted markets wherein the budget is really a concern. Developed countries like the United States of America, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and Germany have restrictions on the Home Basic which means, if you live in the said countries, you cannot access the Windows 7 Home Basic. In addition to that, there are certain limitations of that of the Home Basic, one of these is its support for Aero wherein it is only partial compared to the Home Premium where it gives its support completely. Aero is the well-known glasslike user interface that was first introduced by Windows Vista. Also, the Home Basic does not cover the Windows Media Center. Although you can experience what the Media Center offers by installing different software such as the Windows Media player or any other player and the photo viewer as well.

Windows 7 Home Premium

In terms of availability, the Home Premium is available in all countries. It would just depend on the user’s budget of course. Now, talking more about the Windows Media Center, it really showcases the user’s needs with regards to Entertainment. It enables you to watch Television online and even record it if you please, just like a DVR. The Media Center accommodates its users to browsing of Photo Albums, watching movies, and even listening to music.

Brief Summary:

-The Windows Home Basic is available only on certain countries unlike the Home Premium that is available in all countries.

-Obviously, the Home Basic costs less compared to the Home Premium.

-Home Basic only supports Aero partially while the Home Premium supports it completely.

-Creating and joining a home network cannot happen on the Home Basic but with the Home Premium it would just be simply a choice.

-You would need to install different types of software to complete your needs regarding entertainment on the Home Basic while with the Home Premium, you would not worry about that because includes the Windows Media Center in the package.

The difference between Conference and Meeting

Both are terms that are used in setting up certain people for some matters to discuss on. If you take a look on the dictionary, the two of these doesn’t differ that much as they are almost a synonym. Still they differ in some way so let’s classify them.

Conference

This term in often used by politicians, religious leaders, and any other powerful people in which they are to up bring a serious discussion and exchange of ideas as well. This is done within a large scale, meaning the people that are involved are numerous. They mostly conduct conferences in training centers, grand hotels, or at large halls wherein the mass can be occupied. All of the topics are to be set in advanced. It may also involve the media in order to reach the likes of the rest of the country or even internationally, hence, press conferences.

To wrap it all up, conferences are more of formal compared to meetings.

Meeting

This is more of an encounter, although planned but not planned in advance. Meetings can be from the least formal such as social gatherings on a friend’s house to immediate business meetings inside an office. Unlike conferences, meetings are mostly done exclusively and doesn’t last that long.

Brief Summary:

-A conference is a formal encounter which is planned in advance while a meeting can be called instantly or rather informally.

-Conferences are done in a large scale meaning the people are numerous and can include media while meetings are more of an exclusive encounter with a group of people.

-Conferences take place in large venues such as training centers and grand hotels to accommodate the people who are present while meetings can be on a friend’s house for those socialites or in an office for those business people involved in one group.

The difference between Sore Throat and Strep Throat

I guess everyone in this world had an experience having pain on the throat or loss of voice for a couple of days. We tend to call it Sore throat but sometimes it is also called Strep throat. So which is which?

Sore Throat

A sore throat is what we mostly call it. It is the layman’s term for that itchy, painful experience we have on our throats sometimes. We call it sore due to the fact that we can barely speak; swallowing when eating is also a problem. This can be caused by many probabilities, some of which are bacteria, viruses, fungi, microbes, and other organisms. The chances of transmitting this illness to another individual are low compared to Strep throat but still, washing of hands and proper sanitation is highly recommended. With regards to treatment, it is treated depending on the causative agent.

Strep Throat

On the other hand, a Strep throat is a type of Sore throat which is caused by the Streptococcus bacteria. It has also other nicknames such as Streptococcal pharyngitis and Streptococcal Sore Throat. They are really difficult to differentiate regarding the symptoms you experience. They can be differentiated however with regards to the causative agent wherein Bacteria are only the one that causes a Strep Throat. Regarding transmission, Strep Throat is highly contagious, it can be transmitted through airborne, droplet, and vector. To elaborate it further, you can prevent the chances of spreading it by covering your mouth when you cough, sanitizing the door knobs you use in opening, chairs, tables, and many other things, in other words, always bring a hand sanitizer or a small alcohol. Also wash your hands regularly and dispose the tissues used properly. The treatment of this is with Antibiotics.

Brief Summary:

-Strep throat is a type of sore throat which is caused by Streptococcal bacteria while a Sore throat is the layman’s term used whenever we experience pain in the throat, itchiness, and difficulty in swallowing.

-A Strep throat is caused by a single bacterium called the Streptococcus bacteria. A Sore throat on the other hand can be caused by different causative agents such as bacteria, viruses, microbes, etc.

-Having a Strep throat makes you highly contagious compared to having a Sore throat.

-Treatment of a Strep throat is by means of taking certain Antibiotics, while a sore throat is treated depending on what may have caused it.

The difference between Pistol and Riffle

Pistols are sometimes mistaken as riffles and so as to riffles are mistaken as pistols. We see them in films, cops, and mostly whenever we see a security guard on the mall. Well both are actually guns but in different categories. Let us carefully differentiate the two.

Pistol

A pistol belongs to the hand gun category. They are a smaller than a riffle and can be carried on one hand although upon firing it, some would use both hands for better accuracy. Stevens Maxim was the person who made the first pistol which was way back in 1885. Nowadays, there are two types of pistols which are the semi-automatic and the single-shot pistol. Compared to riffles, they are more advanced so to say, because of the safety feature it has to avoid accidental firings. It also uses minor pressure when firing a bullet. Once it fires, it recoils meaning it shifts the next bullet into the chamber. This type of gun is more popular because of its features of being light-weight, and small. This means it can be brought anywhere for protection, ease of access, and can be hidden a lot easier than riffles.

Riffle

On the other hand, riffles belong to the long gun category because they possess this long barrel. You can choose from a variety of riffles, some of which are; Spencer, semi-automatic, automatic, musket, and many more. This however cannot easily be hidden unlike the pistol but, if you prefer a gun with a lot more power, then the riffle would best suit you. A riffle can shoot a bullet up to 300 feet per second!

Brief Summary:

-A pistol is more popular due to its size, light-weight, and easily concealable body it has, while the riffle is bulky, and heavy.

-A riffle however can do a lot more damage compared to a pistol.

-In terms of easier access, a pistol is a lot more convenient because you can shoot it with one hand, while a riffle will require both hands and your shoulder to support it upon firing.

The difference between Natural Gas and Propane

Although there are still some people who are mostly uncivilized that use charcoal or wood as their main fuel in cooking, the majority nowadays are gases. Two of the most popular ones are the Natural Gas or Propane. They dissipate into the air since they are both gases. In their true form, they are both tasteless and odourless. You also have to take precautions when dealing with them for they are both highly flammable. Sulphur compounds are added up into these gases in order to warn people whenever it leaks. A leak of either of the two in a confined space would also be of an emergency for it will cause lack of oxygen. Even though they are very similar, they too have some differences.

Natural Gas

This type of gas is sometimes delivered by compressed tanks but mostly through pipes. Its name is driven from the words “Naturally Occurring Gas” which is a fossil fuel that’s collected beneath the Earth’s surface though the means of pumping it outward from certain natural gas fields and oil as well. It is a mix of certain gases which are composed of butane, methane, ethane, propane, pentane, hydrogen sulphide, nitrogen, and many more which is measured in cubic meters or cubic feet. There are three types of natural gases namely; Compressed Natural Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas, and an uncompressed form of natural gas. Natural gas is also known as the cleaner burning fuel due to the fact that when it’s used up or burned, it doesn’t release any pollutants into the air we breathe in.

Propane

Now, Propane on the other hand is delivered mostly through compressed tanks. It is a pure gas meaning it only contains one component namely Propane which is collected from petroleum refinement or natural gas processing and separated from other components. In propane’s liquefied form, it is more known as the Liquefied Petroleum Gas wherein it emits a few pollutants when burned that could affect the flavour of the food.

Brief Summary:

-Natural gas and Propane are both used in the same purposes such as cooking, heating, or even fuel for certain vehicles.

-Propane is one of the many components of Natural Gas.

-Natural Gas is a cleaner burner which doesn’t leave pollutants once it is burned unlike Propane which does leave some few pollutants which could affect the food.

The difference between Wiki and Wikipedia

Gathering or storing of information about certain things is done in the internet by millions in a daily basis. Whenever we look up for a landmark or something that involves history, most of us refer to Wikipedia. But what we don’t know is that, Wikipedia is not unique, as a matter of fact, it is just one of the systems out there that do the same, although it is the most popular.

Wiki

When you say Wiki, you are more pertaining to the system wherein the users or volunteers can add up or modify any of the words posted in a certain entry. In this way, important information about a certain celebrity, landmark, etc. can be recorded as quickly as possible due to the large number of volunteers all over the world. The disadvantage however is that, the chances of vandalism are very high, leading to misinformation hosted. The volunteers must act quickly whenever vandalism happens. All they have to do is to activate the versioning system which enables it to reverse whatever vandals made on that certain topic. That’s why regular check-up of the page is highly recommended. Some wikis also make the administrator give out control on how people can edit those posted entries, such as having only the members the power to edit, etc.

Wikipedia

Wikipedia is the most popular Wiki to date. The name is driven from a combination of two words namely, Wiki and Encyclopedia. It also provides about any information you would need. Compared to most wikis, Wikipedia has a more open policy wherein anyone can edit information about it. But the great number of people who maintains or protects a certain page corrects any possible vandals seen.

Brief Summary:

-Wiki is a type of website while Wikipedia is also a website but follows the format of that of Wiki.

-The most popular Wiki in the whole world is Wikipedia.

-Information stored on Wikipedia can be edited by anyone unlike some Wikis wherein the administrator sets controls on the people who can edit it.

The difference between Oppression and Possession

You may or you may not believe in Demons. They are really popular not just in movies, but in real life as well. Demons are said to be the creatures from hell. They are forms of evil spirits that have the ability to control or influence an individual in various ways. There are lots of non-believers but there are even more believers as some have experienced seeing a person getting oppressed or possessed. Not only Christianity but plenty other religions say that the evil spirits causes commotion in their faith and mostly their lives.
Oppression
Demonic oppression is described as less powerful compared to demonic possession. Although that’s the case, it still does affect an individual a lot. A person in the state of Demonic oppression will exhibit different changes in his or her personality. Manners and Attitude are not that of a normal person. The demon does not however attack the individual directly but instead influences him or her regarding behaviour.
There are certain causes of this, it may be because a certain individual commits sins, temptations, is active in an occult religion, and mostly lack of faith, and these are what religious people say. Treatment however is possible through the means of repentance and purification. Exorcisms seem to have little results regarding such remedies.
Possession
On the other hand, Demonic possession is taken a lot more seriously as the demon has full control of an individual. The ability of the person who is possessed to move his or her own body is taken away. As the demon is in possession of the person, the voice can shift from demonic to normal or even another voice. This is very critical as the person possessed can kill him or herself with the control of the demon of course.
According to Christian beliefs, a true believer of Christ can unfortunately be oppressed. But what’s good about it, he or she cannot be possessed.
Brief Summary:
-Demonic oppression is where a demon influences an individual making drastic changes in one’s personality, while Demonic possession is more powerful due to the fact that the Demon is in fully control on the victim’s body meaning he or she has been stripped away of the ability of physical control.
-The person still has control of his or her mind and body in demonic oppression compared to demonic possession wherein he or she has not. The tone of the voice tends to shift whenever the demon prefers, this is with possession.
-Weakening of faith in one’s religion, participating in an occult religion, temptations, and committing of sins are the top reasons why an individual gets either possessed or oppressed.
-With regards to Christianity, they believe that a true believer in Christ can be oppressed but cannot be possessed.

The difference between Wizard and Warlock

As what most of us know, especially those who are fun of playing those magical fantasy games and seeing movies as well, a wizard and a warlock are both males that are spell casters. They primarily use magic in dealing with their mythical quests. There are also other terms that are related, which are namely Magician or Mage, Sorcerer, etc. But whatever terms it maybe, it mainly describes them as the male version of a witch. Even though they are quite similar, they do have differences of which we are going to tackle.

Wizard

The term wizard is coined from the word “wyzard” which meant “wise”. Wizards are believed to be the good guys who use magic to protect their race and also help other people. They were also advisers of their communities. We mostly picture them out as the ones who cast spells from those written on their enormous old books. But this of course depends on the mythology, culture, and beliefs including folklore.

Warlock

On the other hand, warlocks are said to be the evil mages in the society. They’re name is an old English word which means “Traitor”, or “Deceiver”. They are the ones who practice witchcraft and tend to do anything just to fulfil what they want. Although they practice those mentioned, they tend to be of more power compared to wizards. They study complex spells that are very far of what wizards learn making them a lot more advanced.

In the early times, Warlocks are the ones who are said to be burned, hence, the witches back then.

Brief Summary:

-Wizards are known to be wise and an ally of the society while, Warlocks are the traitors.

-Wizards practice their profession for the good of the good. Warlocks on the other hand have no morals. Basically the difference between the two are the camps of good and evil.

The difference between Cebuano and Visayan

If you’re not from the Philippines, or even heard of dialects in that country, you would most likely not know these two terms. For most Filipino citizens, they also tend to be confused between the two. Basically, they are both adjectives and are also used in describing the ethnic people which includes the dialect.

Cebuano

The Philippines is home to a lot of dialects, and one of which is Cebuano. When you say Cebuano, you are more pertaining to the language used of that of the people living in Cebu. It is also used in classifying the people in that area, hence, people living in Cebu are called Cebuanos. The national language used in the country is Tagalog. This main language is used on most places in Luzon. It is also used in categorizing most of the people who lives in Luzon as well. Most Tagalogs probably can’t speak Cebuano, except for those who have a family background of living in Cebu. But on the other hand, Cebuanos know how to speak Tagalog since it is the national language and is taught in school as well.

Visayan

Now, when you talk about Visayan, you are talking about Visayas in general. Visayas is one of the three divisions of the Philippines wherein Luzon is at the north (the second largest division), Visayas is at the center (the smallest division), and lastly Mindanao which is at the south (the largest division). So, when you say the Visayan Language, it means the totality of Visayas which includes Cebuano as well. There are a lot of Visayan dialects, some of which are Ilonggo (for those who live in Ilo-ilo), Waray-waray (the language used on most parts of samar and leyte), Cebuano (on Cebu of course), etc.

Brief Summary:

-Cebuano is one of the many dialects of Visayas meaning Visayan includes Cebuano.

-Cebuano also talks about the people living in Cebu while Visayan talks about the whole of Visayas.

The difference between Wind Power and Solar Power

We should all be conscious about the world we are living in. The earth goes warmer day by day due to the damage the ozone layer receives. There are a lot of reasons on what causes this, one of those is the pollution that coal emits when burned. Coal is probably the most popular energy source, this maybe because of its price. Although it is indeed cheap, we need to find alternatives to save the earth, some of which are Wind and Solar power.

Wind Power

Wind power is one of the popular alternatives. Electricity can be generated when the turbines turn due to the strength of the wind. Now obviously, wind power is available day or night, compared to solar energy which can only be taken advantage of during broad daylight.

Solar Power

Even though solar power can only be generated on daytime, it has some advantages as well. If you plan to charge your laptop, tablet, mobile phone, or any other gadget you have, it would only need a few solar cells to generate the amount needed to do so. On the other hand, if you compare it to wind power, bringing a small wind power would be so impractical and maybe not enough to generate the desired energy needed. There are two ways to generate Solar energy, one is to solar panels and the other is to generate energy through steam. It basically runs when the rainwater that is stacked on one container gets heated up by the sun and then turns to steam.

Brief Summary:

-Wind power can be generated most of the time, day or night, while Solar power can only be generated during the day.
-Wind power is used mechanically while Solar power can be used either mechanically or electrically.
-Solar power can also be used to power vehicles.
-Wind power does not eat up that much land space than compared to Solar power.
