The difference between Pune and Ahmedabad

Pune and Ahnedabad are two large cities located in India. Ahnedabad is located in the eastern part of the country, while Pune is located in the west. They are similar in size, but there are quite a few differences between them. They are very industrialized and are home to large numbers of people who have many activities to choose from for work and play. There are, however, several features, such as culture, language and the populace, that make them very distinct from each other.

About Pune

As the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra, Pune is the eighth largest city in India. It was the seat of the government in the country during the period of history when the Mughals ruled the country. It was founded by Rashtrakootas and over the centuries it has had many rulers – the Yadavas, the Mughals and the Marathas. It was the Maratha ruler, Shivaji, who was responsible for the fame that the city enjoyed during his reign. After his death, though, the Mughals once more came into power.

On the map, Pune is located at 18.32°N and 73.51°E.  It is about 559 meters above sea level and has a population of about 4.4 million.

Pune is an important IT hub and is located close to Mumbai, the largest city in the region. As a result of this proximity, it has enjoyed economic benefits. It is a very prosperous city with the residents earning the second highest per capita income in India. It is also well-known for the educational opportunities. It is home to high-ranking engineering, law, management and medical schools. Students come from all over the country to study in these educational facilities.

About Ahnedabad

Located in the eastern part of India in the state of Gujarat, Ahnedabad is a city of about 4 million people. In its setting on the banks of the Sabarmati River, it was the capital of the state until 1970. At this time, this honor went to the city of Gandhinagar.

The history of Ahnedabad dates back to 1411 when it was founded by Sultan Ahmed Shah. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Though it may not have the title of the capital of Gujarat, it is definitely the capital of culture and commerce in the region. On the map, the city is located at 23.03°N and 72.58°E. Since it lies along the river, it is only 53 meters above sea level.

The land in and around Ahnedabad is very fertile and for this reason it has always been the commercial and trading center of the region. The amount of cotton produced here is the highest in the country and the high number of cotton mills means that they are able to ship the cotton to other parts of India. The manufacture of textiles and cotton fabric is a primary part of the economy and many of these products are shipped to other countries.
