What is the difference between AMA and MotoGP?

Two of the most important motorcycle races in the world are the AMA and the MotoGP. Both have been around for many years and have gained a large following. Both have a very large membership and the large crowds of spectators at the events demonstrate how popular motorcycle racing is.

AMA

The American Motorcycle Association was created in the 1920’s and today it is one of the most established associations in transportation. It has a very long history and a huge membership. The racing activities that it hosts are very exciting for both the riders and the spectators. Motorcycle enthusiasts can join this association, which takes an active role in coordinating a wide variety of professional racing competitions throughout the entire United States. Not just any motorcycle is permitted in any one race. There are regulations about the types of motorcycles that riders are allowed to enter and ride.

MotoGP

The Motorcycle Grand Prix is the most prestigious motorcycle racing association in the world. The race has an international venue and the contestants come from all over the world to compete against each other. The association was created in 1949 and is recognized as being a pioneer in the world of road racing events. There are several races in various categories for different sizes of motorcycles, even those with four stroke engines.

Difference between AMA and MotoGP

One of the differences between the AMA and MotoGP is the location of the races. The AMA holds its race in the United States, but the MotoGP races are international and are held all over the world.  Another difference is the types of motorcycles that are permitted to enter the races. In the AMA races, the motorcycles used are ones that the public uses. They can have modified parts, and engines and tires designed for speed because this is a road race. With the MotoGP, the motorcycles are built specifically for the race and are not ones that the general public would use for regular riding. You also have to be a certified motorcycle rider in order to enter the race.

It is not just motorcycle enthusiasts who are members of these two associations. Those who have an interest in speed have also gained much from them. The motorcycle community has gained prestige and a sense of comradeship and pride has developed among the riders and the regular spectators.
