How the Blackberry Dakota Bold 9900 is different from the Blackberry Bold 9780

The latest version of the Blackberry that is soon to be released from Research in Motion is called the Blackberry Dakota. It will be slimmer than the Blackberry Bold 9780 and other Blackberry devices. It will be almost like a candy bar at 10.5 mm in thickness and the touch screen will be 2.8 inches. The QWERTY keyboard combination will also be non-sliding.

The 2.8 inch screen uses VGA capacitive touch technology and it has a built-in 5MP camera, 4GB of internal storage, and 768 MB RAM. The brand new Blackberry OS-6.1 will be the power source – the improved version of OS-6. Additional features you will see on the Blackberry Dakota are:

  • Mobile hotspot
  • Near Field Communication
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 and 5GHz

Some people refer to this device as the Blackberry Magnum. The OS-6.1 will permit full multi-tasking with full HTML5 and support for Adobe Flash 10.1.

The Blackberry Bold 9780 is the latest release in the Bold series. It has the same slim design, but the screen is smaller at 2.4 inches. It is an LCD touch screen that has a 5MP camera. The media card is 2GB and there is 512MB of internal memory. There isn’t a lot of difference from other Bold designs except in the higher PPI of the screen.
