The difference between courier and regular mail
Two ways in which you can send mail are by courier and by regular mail. They perform the same service but they are different in the way that they operate. The traditional mail service used to be the only way people could send letters back and forth and did not change at all until the introduction of the courier service. Some people have the idea have sending a package by courier instead of through the regular mail is more expensive, but this is not the case.
The growth of the courier service industry has been so dramatic that there are now many companies and the competition between them is fierce. This level of competition also increases the quality of the service. Even though the quality of service offered by the post office is improving, but the changes are not as noticeable as those of the courier industry.
It is a cumbersome task to send a package through the regular postal system. They may be long waiting lines. However, if you use a courier service to send packages the courier comes to your home or place of business to pick up the package. Therefore it is easy to describe courier service as a pick-up and delivery service. There is no pick-up service involved in regular mail.
The prices associated with the use of both types of services are different. With the postal service the price is the same whatever post office you use. With the competition that exists in a courier service you do have to shop around to get the cheapest price.
