Difference Between Immigration and Emigration

Immigration and Emigration are two words that cause too much confusion and people think that they have the same meaning. However they are very different and carry different meaning.

Immigration

Immigration is derived from the Latin word ‘immigrare’ which means ‘to go into’ and it indicates the movement of people to a country. An immigrant is a person who moves in a country. Every country is more concerned about the reason behind the immigration of its own citizens to some other place. So we find that the laws of immigration are very strict.

Emigration

Emigration is a word that is derived from the Latin ‘emigrare’ which means ‘to move’ and it indicates the movement of people from a country. Compared to immigration, emigration has a lot many reasons. People may come into a country for better job opportunities and life style. Unlike the immigrant the emigrant is a person who moves out of his own country. Unlike the laws of immigration the laws of emigration is not that strict.
