The world of virtual gaming has definitely reached great heights. There are hundreds of new games that are released on a regular basis. But two of the most addictive and entertaining games are Prince of Persia and God of War. Young and adults alike spend countless hours completing quests and fighting off enemies that seem impossible to defeat. The two games have some similarities, but there are also some salient differences that make both games exciting and addictive. Prior to the onset of accelerated graphics and dual core processors, Prince of Persia already existed as an MS-DOS application. The graphics were not as great as what we have now, but during the era when having a colored monitor symbolizes wealth and power, Prince of Persia has already entertained a lot of gaming addicts all over the world. Jordan Mechner is the man behind this game. God of War, on the other hand, is developed by Sony Entertainment and has a wide array of challenging levels that would keep anyone busy for hours.

 

Plot

God of War is about a Kratos, a Spartan leader who would only be freed from his haunting memories if he is able to defeat Ares, the God of War. However, Kratos has to conquer other enemies and their minions before he can have the chance to face Ares in the final battle. Anyone playing the game will be able to feel what it was like to live in ancient Greece and become a mighty Spartan.

 

The story of Prince of Persia, on the other hand, revolves around the unnamed prince’s quest to free her princess from the evil vizier who would like to marry the princess. The unnamed prince has to face many challenges and battles involving enemies with different weapons and abilities in order to accomplish this goal.

 

Awards

The appreciation shown by gaming fanatics for God of War and Prince of Persia is rewarding enough for any game developer. But in addition to that, both games have already gained awards to prove that they are indeed two of the best games ever created. The Academy of Arts and Sciences have given the God of War an honorary “Game of the Year” award and it is also considered part of the Top 25 PS2 games. Prince of Persia, on the other hand, is currently listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for 6 achievements including the following: First Motion-Capture Animation in a Video Game and Highest Rated Platformer on PS2 and Xbox.

 

What’s exciting about games like God of War and Prince of Persia is that they can take you to places you have never been to before, and experience things that would be impossible to experience in real life. Because of this, it can be quite difficult to stop playing until the final level is reached and the final battle is fought and won. Fighting for love, honor, glory, and for what is right are also central plots that will never go out of fashion and will always stir curiosity and keep gamers hooked every time.
