Difference Between Roots And Shoots
Not many people know the different types of structures in the plant. These are usually discussed in biology classes and have no meaning to people who do not have green thumb or are disinterested in the plants completely. Still having a little knowledge about this is not harmful and can be useful, especially if you aim to have a garden overflowing with plants someday.
The shooting part of the plant is that part of the plant that grows above ground. These are the petals, leaves and finally the stems. The basis of the plant is that portion of the plant which is mainly located underground namely the root hairs and root caps etc.
In the plant’s structure, shoots are fresh growth. This includes the stem, leaves, and flowering stalks with flower buds. The latest development from seed germination that grows uphill is a shoot in which the leaves will be able to expand. In the season of flowers the permanent plant shoots are the one that grow from the soil in the fresh stem and developments that grow on plants that are woody.
The word shoot is generally mistaken to be the same as the stem. The stem is very important and vital part of the shoot because it gives the axis of the fruit, leaves and buds. Shoots are usually eaten by a variety of animal as the fibers of the new growth that could not complete the secondary growth of the cell wall, makes the shoots much softer and easier to chew and digest for these animals.
The root of the plant is the part that lies beneath the surface of the ground in specialized tissues. They vary from minute to minute as plant’s have aerial roots which are grown on the ground’s surface. The plant’s root can also be mounting up on top of the earth or particularly on top of water surface. A stem growing underneath the ground is also not uncommon. Therefore, roots are generally categorized as part of a plant’s system unable hold any leaves. It means they do not have nodes too. A plant’s stems and roots have a very important interior structural difference. There are four major uses of plant’s roots which are: integration of water and non organic nutrients, binding the plant’s body to the earth, storing food and nutrients, and prevent soil corrosion.
