Difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes
In Type 1 diabetes mellitus (insulin-dependent), your body loses the ability to produce insulin, the hormone that controls the absorption of sugar into body cells. The insulin is produced by the pancreatic hormone-producing beta cells, and Type 1 diabetes is caused by the fact that these cells are damaged and destroyed.
