Difference Between Undergraduate and Graduate
The two terms undergraduate and graduate are associated with higher education and reflect the level at which a student is in his long and arduous journey to get to know a subject and also make a career for himself in his chosen field study. Normally, as in other fields, higher education is a scale where the students come over before being certified and we can go to master only after the fact to perform during a student. There are more differences in the student and the graduate will be discussed in this article.
Courses in undergraduate level are usually taken after the completion of 10+2 level in most countries. These are called bachelor’s courses and are classified as the Bachelor of Science or BA depending on whether the student took the subjects of art or science topics. Courses designed as undergraduate intends to provide knowledge in many subjects and are mostly academic in nature though science classes involve a lot of practical work done in laboratories.
When a student is pursuing a bachelor’s degree, it is considered an undergraduate and it is only when he finishes the bachelor’s course and gets enrolled in a Master’s course that is considered a graduate.
Only after successful completion of undergraduate course like the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science and the BA, B. Tech or B.Eng (the bachelor of engineering) can a student aspire to go for higher studies and enroll in the master’s degree courses. A bachelor’s degree is mostly three to four years while the graduate courses have a duration of two years. Graduate courses are known as MA, MSc, MTech, MS etc.
In general, those who want the job rather quickly stop after the completion of the bachelor’s degree level course while those who want a higher level against their name in order to have better employment opportunities are for the Master’s course. Higher studies do not end with graduate courses such as those who want to make teaching a profession must complete their degree to a PhD after graduation to become a lecturer and then professor at a college or university.
