Difference BetweenYasmin and Yasminelle

Yasmin and Yasminelle both have a combination of ethinyl estradiol /estrogen and a hormone called drospirenone. The amount of drospirenone in Yasmin and Yasminelle determines the amount of progesterone. While these two pills use the same hormones, there are some differences between the two that can make one or the other a better choice for you.

Function

Both Yasminelle and Yasmin to prevent pregnancy with an efficiency of more than 99 percent. Drospirenone in these oral contraceptives prevent ovulation and thickens the cervical lining and thins the lining of the uterus. The drug ethinyl estradiol makes Yasmin and Yasminelle more efficient and reduces the overall effects of Pill.

Differences

While both Yasminelle and Yasmin contains a combination of drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol, there are some differences. Yasmin uses a combination of 3 mg drospirenone and 30 mcg of ethinyl estradiol per tablet. Yasminelle with 3 mg drospirenone per tablet, but only 20 mcg of ethinyl estradiol.

Conclusion

First, some general, both Yasmin and Yasminelle comes with some risks and possible side effects. Common side effects include breast tenderness, mood swings, nausea and weight gain. These are usually well tolerated by people. More serious complications include blood clots, pulmonary embolism and stroke. Drospirenone may increase potassium levels, making Yasminelle and Yasmin a poor choice for those with liver or kidney problems.

 

But as we saw, there are less hormones in Yasminelle. The pill has a lower dose of estrogen, which decreases the chance of side effects – but that in turn increases the chances of bleeding.
