The difference between Android 2.2 (Froyo) and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
Android is the name of the platform for the operating systems of the Google Samrtphone. The technology was originally developed by Android Inc. from a version of Linux kernel. Google acquired this company in 2005. Two versions of the operating system for the Smartphone are Android 2.2 (Froya) and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Android 2.2 was released in May, 2010 with a revision released in July, of the same year. Android 2.3 was released in December, 2010 and it has major improvements over Android 2.2.
Improvements and new features
Some of the improvements that were made in Android 2.2 are:
- An improvement was made in the speed
- Chrome V8 JavaScript engine was integrated
- JT optimization
- App widgets received a facelift
New features seen on the Android 2.2 are:

On the Android 2.3, the new features that were added are:

Networking
Android 2.2 has support for both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It also has Wi-Fi hotspot function that can support up to six connected devices, so in a way it is a router for wireless broadband.
Android 2.3 has all of these features as well as the support of NFC, which is high speed data communication over high frequencies within a short range.
Communication
Android 2.3 has support for both SIP and video calling in addition to voice calling. Internet calling is possible with either a 3G or a Wi-Fi connection and an SIP account.
