Difference between Character and Culture
Character is personal while culture is communal. The mental and moral qualities unique to an individual are said as character whereas the ideas, traditions, and social behaviour of a specific community are said as character. Character can be said as quality while culture as an identity.
Usually, while describing a human being, the two terms character and culture are used. Though the explanation of both terms seems to be similar, there are some differences among them as far as their term of usage is taken into consideration.
Culture can be said as the effect of movement in a particular region. That is why; people all over the world are categorized into different cultures. Culture develops identity among individuals or group of individuals. Culture differs from group to group and it is considered as a practice to live in a community.
Culture includes many important facts such as the food habits, economy, spiritual beliefs, languages, colour, etc. that differs them from people of other culture. In other words, it can be said that the growth of a culture can be predicted by the growth of a community.
The moral behaviour of a man is said to be as character. Character is an intangible asset of an individual; it resides but cannot be seen by anyone.
Character is judged by the things done by n individual. Good things reflect good character while the act of doing bad things results for bad character. A bad thing refers to performing such action that is bad to nature while a good thing refers to performing such action that is beneficial to the mature.
It is good to know that all the people in the earth are gifted with character. Character has no relation with the race or religion or culture because character is higher than all the above things even higher than education and sex.
The word character sometimes is used to represent the good quality. This can be well described by the words, ‘He has character’ which indirectly means that he has good qualities in him. Hence, character is linked to any of the good things.
