Difference Between Conceptual and Empirical
Both empirical and conceptual approaches are commonly used while performing a research. Conceptual analysis is considered as analytical as researchers are while the empirical analysis is a methodology that evaluates a given hypothesis through two steps, observation and experiments. Both the approaches are very popular, but there are no hard and fast rules to their application and they are not mutually exclusive so as not to be used in different steps of a particular search.
In empirical research, the collection of data collection is done through observation and experiments. If we suppose that there is a hypothesis and two different scientists are working separately on it, by accumulating information through observation and experimentation, it is possible that they will arrive at slightly different results. This is because, the part which involves observation in empirical research, is bound to be different. Two different individuals will have differing perceptions while doing the same research.
The conceptual analysis is the method that is mostly preferred for the analysis in the humanities and philosophy. Here, the researcher tackles the problem part by part. He breaks down the concept into smaller simpler parts to understand it better. This method of analysis has gained immense popularity; in spite of that, there is a lot of criticism against it. Most researchers will agree that conceptual analysis is a very accurate and useful method for analysis, but should be used along with other analysis methods to get results that are more accurate.
