Difference between Judgment and Order
Judgment and order are terms that are often heard in court. It is important to know the differences between the two just in case we have the unfortunate fate of getting into lawsuits in the future.
What is Judgment?
Judgment, or the final verdict, is the judge’s final decision that closes the case and clears a prosecution. This decision is done after the court has gone through all the procedures needed in solving a case. The judgment must be written down and documented in a certain format due to their lengthy content. The content of a judgment includes conditions to be followed, details regarding the charges and penalties to be paid, and who the winning party is.
What is an Order?
A court order is proclaimed by the court judge. It establishes the connection between the parties in a certain case because it dictates what each party has to be done. Unlike judgments, court orders do not clear any prosecution and do not necessarily have to be written. If they are written, however, they must be signed by the court judge.
