Difference Between Olive Oil and Vegetable Oil

The olive and the vegetable oil are both very commonly used in the kitchen for cooking. They can be used for different types of food but they drastically differ in nature, composition of elements and show different behaviors when subjected to different temperatures.

Olive Oil

Olive Oil is in general used for recipes with strong flavor so that oil does not change the inherent taste of the food. The olive is high good fats required for good health and even your nutritionist will always recommend it to include them in your diet. It is also rich source of anti-oxidants. It is extracted from olive greens by pressing them in a machine.

Vegetable oil

They say that vegetable oils are tolerant to high temperature. It is commonly used in cooking food which have delicate tastes such as pork, chicken and fish therefore the taste of the food itself would come out naturally. This kind of oil comes from plants and is good for health to be eaten. Vegetable oil is full of omega 6 fatty acids which are important for good health.

Olive Oil vs. vegetable oil

  • The olive oil is especially used for foods with strong flavors while vegetable oil is intended for those with the delicate flavors.
  • The olive oil has anti-oxidants and fats needed for good health while the vegetable oil is rich in omega 6 fatty acids.
  • While the olive oil is extracted from olive greens by using a machine, the vegetable oil is extracted in the mid-size industries.
  • The olive oil is commonly used for cooking at medium temperatures while the vegetable oil is used for cooking at comparatively higher temperatures.

To summarize we can say that both these oils have their own specific uses in the kitchen and are preferred by different people but both of them make our food taste better.
