Difference Between PCOD and PCOS

Both of these hormone disorders affect women who still have their ovaries intact. Women have two ovaries and they part a very vital part in fertilization and reproduction. Each month the ovaries release the output of ova inside the uterus. This is where hormones such as estrogen and Androgens are produced. The two most common diseases associated with the ovaries are (PCOS) Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and (PCOD) Polycystic Ovary Disease.

This disease exists where there is an imbalance of hormones.  The inconsistencies in the hormones cause cysts to develop. This is a gathering of developing or mature eggs, which are inside the ovary, but for some reason, cannot be released.  This cycle continues month after month and results in quite a few health issues for women. A number of incidents can trigger a shift in the normal flow of hormones such as stress, poor diets, and including too much or not enough insulin. The symptoms involve irregular periods, hair loss, temporary infertility, or fat collection in the abdominal area. The simplest treatment is hormone medication.

This condition affects women in different ways. This type of hormone inconsistencies results in no release of ovum. The twelve follicles this condition produces each month are not mature, and this is when the irregularity begins. During this cycle the ovaries starts to produce high levels of testosterones, causing the hormones to become imbalance. The symptoms it produces are an increase in weight, irregular cycles, loss of hair, difficulty conceiving, and skin irritation. Of the two diseases, PCOS is the most serious, although both conditions can be treated with pills and intravenous medication.

Both conditions are contributors of unstable hormones, irregular cycles, loss of hair, weight gain, and some form of infertility. However, these symptoms will not show up in women until they are well into their twenties.
